World Harvest Missions
The Ride to Provide will be held
Saturday, November 17th. This year’s event will begin at Carlin Park and travel north to South Hutchinson Island/Stuart Beach. Like minded/ socially conscious cyclists will again ride to create awareness of the educational needs at New Life Children’s Home in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Over the past 5 years, riders have contributed to meet the needs of orphaned children with financial support, medicine, food, clothes and tuition. New Life Children’s home was founded by Miriam Frederick. Miriam and her volunteers have been trekking into the remote mountain villages of Haiti to provide open air clinics for kids in need. While at these clinics, she has rescued hundreds of Children from certain death. New Life Children’s Home receives children from all over Haiti. The orphanage in Port Au Prince occupies 5 acres and has been operational for 30 years.
Ride to Provide was formed by a core group of cyclists that believe in using the bike, friends and their cycling network to assist those in needs. Inspired through their faith, they believe that now is the time to provide hope to many that have no voice. Each year over 100 riders participate in the Ride. This year’s contributions will go to meet the educational needs 65 kids. Donations will assist in the payment of tuition, school uniforms, books and school supplies. Each student’s tuition expense is $75 per month.
Cyclists from all walks of life will depart from Carlin Park, and return for an authentic Haitian lunch. Volunteers and representatives from New Life Children’s home will be on hand to serve food, answer questions and provide additional information about the orphanage.
